Welfare Officer

The role of the swimming club welfare officer is essential in providing a first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding or welfare concern.

Guidance to parents

Swim England recognise the important role parents play in clubs. The parent finances, transports and supports their child and many give their time generously and voluntarily to run their child’s swimming club.

The parent role is also to help keep their child safe in all their sporting activities. The Swim England Safeguarding Team have developed Wavepower for clubs to adopt to address any welfare and safeguarding issues that arise.

This section is specifically for you, the parent, to hopefully give you a guide on your role as club parent.

Guidance to swimmers 17 and under

You the swimmer are the most important part of any Swim England swimming club. Without you there would be no one for the coaches to coach and no junior competitors to compete. This has been written for you with the help of the ASA Youth Forum. You also have a section of the ASA website specifically for your age group called Child Power. You are the heart of any club!

Swim England code of ethics

This is designed to assist clubs and all club members to meet their duty of care to safeguard all children who take part in or attend your swimming club. The section is divided up to help the club identify what they need to do to demonstrate a duty of care with clear guidance and policies to make this possible.
